So the end is finally here. I am very relieved that this is the end because unfortunately whenever I start something I feel like I have to finish it and that is what I did with this discovery program. I felt like there wasn't enough time to really learn most of the exercises thoroughly. I have already forgotten some of the things I did. Trying to do this at work with all the necessary duties that needed to be done was at times more of a challenge than the exercises themselves. (I don't have internet access at home).
I did learn a lot and if this was offered in the future I would probably participate but mostly because of my curiosity of not knowing what I would be missing out on. I especially enjoyed Del.icio.us, Wikis and the list of Web 2.0 Awards Winners.
Also, I found that because I am not as computer savvy as some people, prior knowledge was needed to complete some of the exercises. "Cutting and pasting" and creating a duplicate page of the instructions was a must. I found that I needed to ask staff for help to do some basic computer techniques. Maybe learning some of these techniques would also be beneficial to staff.
Some of the exercises were simple and some were more involved. Some weeks had more exercises than others. I think if fewer topics were covered per week, longer time to complete each assignment and the ability to start the next week's topic if you had more time that particular week might be helpful. Also having our blogs blocked was frustrating for a lot of people. It seems that everyone that completed the 23 things wants to do this again. Keep in mind that there were a lot of people that started and never continued with the "23 things". I think they should be taken into consideration as to why they never finished with the "23 things". This could also shed some light as to how to improve the program for next time.
Overall, an interesting experience but time and a review of basic computer techniques would be helpful so that everyone could participate until the end.
